Project Completed

January 18, 2015

Another project done!  This one in only about a week, too.

Finished TrimWe bought some wool fabric some friends of ours were selling and there was enough of a brown herringbone to make an overtunic for the Hubs so he would have something warm to wear for Winter Revel, a local event held in an unheated (except for two fireplaces) lodge.

Neck FacingWhat took longest on this was the embroidery, but even that is fairly simple.  it’s all done with split stitch and French knots and the design is based on a 14th century illumination whitework detail.

I like the way this turned out – the embroidery is bright and bold against the brown linen I used for the trim and the solid trim contrasts nicely with the herringbone of the wool.  The fabric was just wide enough that I didn’t have to hem the sleeves, just used the selvedge as the finishing.
