So we went to RUM as planned. Got pulled over on the way there, apparently for driving too long in the left lane instead of returning to the right lane after passing. No ticket, thankfully, though the officer asked the Hubs to get out of the car to talk to him – a little bit surprising.
RUM was lightly attended, as expected. I had 4 people in each of my classes – better than nothing! However, another person completely shanghaied my “So You Want to be a Scribe” class and two of the people in it probably shouldn’t be scribes anyway. One woman was amazed at the concept of a 600-year-old manuscript and actually asked if it had come from another country!
Ended up being invited to stay with some friends in Chicago instead of at a hotel, so it was very cool and lots of fun. Had breakfast at Ann Sather, a Swedish restaurant. Mmm, bacon-cheddar potato pancakes!
Afterwards, our friends treated us to the Museum of Science & Industry since they get extra guests with their membership cards. The museum was great – lots of fun displays. I totally suck at “Mindball”, a display where you try to relax and electrodes pick up your brainwaves. The more relaxed you are, the more you can move a small ball towards your opponent. Apparently, I can’t relax at all! Plus, the big heart monitor wouldn’t pick up my pulse, so apparently I don’t have a heartbeat either!
Finally, we finished with a session at the Barony of Ayreton fighter practice at the University of Chicago. It was nice enough that the fighters went outside to the park for practice!
